Narrow Path May '97

by: Paul Daugherty

The Narrow Path: For those readers who are unfamiliar with IMPELLITTERI, tell us about your musical style.

RR: Our style is built around Chris' guitar playing and my vocals. It's a blend of Hard Rock/Metal riffs, powerful melodic vocals, lightning speed guitar solos and positive-real life lyrics.

NP: Has the band always been geared toward Christian beliefs? If not, what brought about the change?

RR: IMPELLITTERI is not a "Christian band" so to speak, but the songwriters, Chris and I, are both Christians. Chris writes the music, I write the lyrics, and the lyrics have become bolder and stronger as my walk with the Lord matures.

NP: Coming out of the last decade as an "80's Band", what was the transition to the '90's like? What kinds of changes have you encountered in the fans, concert crowds, or in the scene in general?

RR: The Lord has blessed us in the '90's by allowing us to survive as musicians. the Hard Rock/Metal scene has gone underground as opposed to being the latest fad. The fans we have are not "trendy" and they welcome us with open arms. The fans we have are most dedicated, true and passionate. We've just been released throughout Europe and they are loving Screaming Symphony too.

NP: How do you go about, if at all, presenting Christianity on stage?

RR: We give all the glory and honor to our Lord Jesus Christ and thank him for allowing us to be musicians and performers.

NP: Tell us about your latest release and any future plans for IMPELLITTERI.

RR: Our latest release, Screaming Symphony, is going extremely well. We've had a great response, great sales, and a sold-out tout of Japan, Europe has also responded well. We just began to record out new album(as yet untitled) and we hope to tour Europe and Japan after it's release.

NP: Is there anything else you'd like to add?

RR: We appreciate all our friends and fans and we are praying for the Lord to open a door for us here in the States. Although our albums are available through import and mail- order, we hope to find a U.S. distributor soon. God bless you all, and keep us in your prayers. Thanks!
